Why I’m Running

Congress today is dysfunctional and partisan. It didn’t used to be this way. I remember the days not so long ago when we could work across the aisle to get things done – the days when compromise wasn’t considered a bad word. We cannot afford to let partisan bickering get in the way of progress for American families, even in this often toxic political atmosphere.

The people of Florida’s 20th District deserve a champion. You deserve someone who will not shy away from making tough decisions or taking a stand for what is right. For over 20 years, I have worked hard for you. Together, we have accomplished a great deal, but there is much more to be done.

That is why I am running for re-election.

I am proud to say that I will work with anyone willing to work with me.  Whether it is expanding protections so that veterans don’t unfairly lose their pensions, protecting the Everglades, or combating anti-semitism in Europe, I know how to find common ground with my colleagues in Washington.

In Congress, job creation remains my number one priority. Our economy has steadily improved in recent years, but far too many people are out of work. I see it first hand when I am home in Florida. I continue to work every day to improve the economic foothold of American families, to improve wages and expand workplace protections.

I ask you, humbly, for your vote. This office is a voice for those who need it, and I am so extremely proud to continue to serve you.

Thank you for your support,
