Battlefield 3 welcomes the Reality Mod

Some mods allow old games to get a new lease on life, or even show off the talent of some amateur developers.

Reality Mod is one of them, and it gives Electronic Arts and Dice a nice lesson by completely transforming Battlefield 3. Even as the last few installments of the franchise failed to win over audiences, BF3 could reconnect with audiences.

This is a team of 80 passionate amateur developers who have worked on the mod over 7 years to deliver a new game experience that changes the whole game and just what the gaming community has been asking for.

This allows players to deploy apparition points, rally points, deploy resources on FOBs, TOW launchers, AA guns, fortifications themselves…

VoIP has been added to facilitate communication between teammates, a proximity chat…

But more visible: the graphics part has been heavily improved: new visual effects, new physics, new HD textures, new models and cleaned interface. The maps have been fixed and redesigned with 5 maps available, a new dynamic weather system and a day/night cycle. Environmental destruction has also been improved as have all weapons and ballistics.

The maps can accommodate up to 100 players per server. You’ll need BF3 and all of the DLC to enjoy Reality Mod, which could really revive players’ interest in EA’s title, even if it means overshadowing the publisher’s newer games.
