Evil Geniuses to Line Up Kaori in Danny's Place for Worlds 2022 Start

Evil Geniuses to Line Up Kaori in Danny’s Place for Worlds 2022 Start

After missing the end of the LCS Championship and the game against 100 Thieves, Danny will also miss the start of the 2022 League of Legends Worlds. Evil Geniuses’ management has confirmed that the duties of starting botlaner will initially be given to young competitor Kaori.

Danny not back for 2022 Worlds kickoff

A few days after the victory against Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses announced that its botlaner Danny had made the decision to take a step back from the game and the competitive scene, and would therefore not participate in his team’s upcoming matches in order to focus on mental health ; subsequently, the club’s management confirmed that the kicking duties for the final games of the season would be handled by Muhammed Hasan “Kaori” Şentürk, a member of the EG Academy. Unfortunately for the Turkish botlaner, his first LCS start ended in a loss, an underachievement that eliminated Evil Geniuses from the LCS Championship and deprived the team of going to defend its title in the final of these playoffs.

For Evil Geniuses, its journey in these playoffs ends with a 3rd place in the final standings; afterwards, EG took some time off in order to prepare as much as possible for the World Championship, as well as training and scrims. The question was whether Danny will be back in time to play the Play-In or whether Evil Geniuses plans to start Kaori; a few days after the loss at the LCS Championship, the club’s management announced that the team was undecided about the identity of its starting botlaner for the start of the Worlds 2022, also implying that Kaori might be the preferred choice. This is what is implied by Han “Rigby” Earl, the head coach of the Evil Geniuses LCS team, who gave as the only answer that Danny just needs a little rest.

With the Play-In scheduled to kick off in just under a week now, Evil Geniuses has confirmed through its CEO, Nicole LaPointe Jameson, that the team will be competing in the world championship with its rookie botlaner, Kaori; she revealed the decision a short while ago on social media, confirming that the 21-year-old would be joining the team while the organization would continue to support Danny

It takes a lot of courage and self-awareness to recognize when the right time is to walk away from something you’ve worked so hard to achieve, especially when you care so deeply about this organization and your teammates, in order to focus on mental health. Kyle is a part of this family and we will continue to support him in any way we can as he steps back, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.

At this time, we don’t know if Kaori will be starting throughout the Worlds, or if Danny will return for the Main Event, assuming the team makes it through the Play-In safely and qualifies for the rest of the tournament.as a seed 3 in the LCS league, the team will play in the Play-In, a qualifying round that kicks off on September 29 in Mexico City, and is drawn into Pool A, which includes Fnatic and Beyond Gaming. It will have to finish first in its pool, or at worst pass the Knockout Stage to wait for the Main Event.
