It’s one of SNK’s most popular franchises that’s about to return to the forefront: Fatal Fury, Street Fighter 2’s biggest rival in the 1990s.
It was at EVO 2022 (Evolution Championship Series) that SNK made its announcement, which immediately brought cries of joy from the audience. The brand unveiled a teaser announcing the arrival of a new installment from the Garou Densetsu saga, better known in the West as Fatal Fury.
For now, we’ll have to settle for the teaser, which itself amounts to a simple, rather mysterious illustration. It is likely that SNK is preparing not a re-release, but a brand new Fatal Fury, the last episode of which dates back to 1999 with Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
The Fatal Fury saga set itself apart from other 2D fighting games of the time by choosing a slightly more complex, faster and edgy gameplay, but also with the ability to play on multiple planes (front and back).
