Waiting for the launch of the accessory (late this year or early 2023), Sony has begun to talk about the first expected games and is now detailing some aspects of the future headset’s interface and features.

The PS VR2 headset will first of all allow you to view your nearby environment thanks to its transparent view mode. Finding your joysticks nearby or moving without hitting the furniture will be possible without having to remove the headset.

Better define boundaries, enjoy non-VR content too

Sony doesn’t forget about streaming game sessions and will allow a PS5 HD camera to be connected to the console so you can film yourself while playing.

The PS VR2 headset will also use its cameras and controllers to facilitate personalization of the gaming space at home. This will help to better perfect the boundaries automatically analyzed by the system, with a warning when approaching the border marked by a virtual grid.

Finally, the virtual reality headset will be able to display non-VR content in cinematic mode. While VR games will offer a 360-degree environment in 4000 x 2040 pixel format (2000 x 2040 pixels per eye) with 90 to 120 Hz refresh rate, non-VR content will be viewable on a virtual cinema screen in 1920 x 1080 pixels and up to 120 Hz.
